Samuel Babcock page

Post by Music4Ever »

Samuel Gavitt Babcock (1851–1938) was an American bishop in the Protestant Episcopal Church. He graduated from the Episcopal Theological School at Cambridge, Massachusetts, in 1891. After holding pastorates in Rhode Island and Massachusetts he was archdeacon of Massachusetts from 1903 to 1913, when he was elected suffragan bishop of Massachusetts. This was from Wikipedia. The person is not a composer, but a bishop, which is not relevant here, plus the birth and the death dates are completely different. Please delete this page. --~~~~

You are referring to a different Samuel Babcock. The Samuel Babcock page at the ChoralWiki is for the American composer (February 18, 1760 – November 23, 1813), born in Milton, Massachusetts - not the Bishop of the Protestant Episcopal Church to which you refer. The earlier Babcock is well-documented as a composer.
