Do you know the name of this piece?

Post by Eliseu Gouveia »

Hello,

I´m completely new here, but I thought I´d register in the hope that you may help me out with a question.

I´ve been trying to find the name of a song for AGES!
I recovered the audio track from a VERY old cassete by playing it against a webcam, so the sound is beyond awfu. but hopefuly, you´ll be able to make it out...
Do you know its name?

Music Here

Thank you kindly,

E.

It's name is "Petersburger Schlittenfahrt" (Saint Petersburg sledging) composed by Richard Eilenberg. I played it 40 years ago 4-handed piano with a friend and was rejoiced to hear it again here.

A better vocal demonstration than the sound of the gramophone record you linked on can be heard at

German text can be bought at http://www.noten-roehr.de/de/katalog/80 ... fahrt.html (or you listen to the film linked above and write down what you hear - for checking the words you may post it here again). I think the text was added later as the original music was only instrumental. I have no idea if there is an English text, too.
