Why is Warlock's Bethlehem Down copyright in the USA?

Post by bobnotts »

As per the title... my only thought was that it would be around the date it was published but I see that was a while ago. Could someone fill me in?

Cheers

Apparently it was first published in 1928, and copyright was supposedly renewed 28 years later, i.e., in 1956, for further 28 years. Then it automatically received an extension to 95 years from publication. So, it will enter public domain at the end of 2023.

That work is public domain in Europe, so the original score may be uploaded to IMSLP as PD EU, while a new typset obtained from it may be also uploaded selecting one of the Creative Commons licenses.
