Mechanical Licensing for an arrangement

Post by mmartin54 »

My choir is compiling music for a CD and one of the pieces was an arrangement we downloaded from CPDL, "If Ye Love Me" by Thomas Tallis, arr. by Wilbert Berendsen. To whom do I contact for permission to add our performance of this piece to our CD?

This work (CPDL #11157) was released by the editor under the terms of the CPDL license, so you can freely perform and record it provided that you credit the editor (see details about the CPDL license here).

However, this edition was added to ChoralWiki in 2006 by the founder of CPDL, and the proof that the editor accepted to release it under the terms of the CPDL license is probably only available in private correspondence between the editor and the founder of CPDL. So, to stay on the safe side, I would suggest to contact the editor and ask him to confirm that the CPDL license terms are applicable to this edition. The editor can be contacted at http://www.wilbertberendsen.nl/contact .
