Looking for SATB song related to the ocean and shells

Post by lmemsm »

I'm trying to track down the title and background information of a song I heard at some choral competitions in Texas. The arrangement was SATB. I couldn't make out the words clearly enough to get a title or the chorus. I believe the song mentioned the ocean and shells. When it was sung, the results sounded like an echo chamber. It was a really beautiful song to listen to and I'd love to find out the title or find the sheet music. I realize it's not a lot to go on, but was hoping someone might know some songs commonly sung at choir competitions that might fit the description or that someone might have some clues to help me track down the song. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks.

This one, perhaps? It's "Hear the Music", by Ruth Elaine Schram:

The lyrics say: "I hear a far-away bell; I hear the ocean in a shell. I hear a merry carousel and each one has a tale to tell; each has its music..."

Although the Youtube arrangement is for 2 voices only, it seems there's also a SATB version (see note on page bottom):

Appreciate the suggestion, but I'm sure Hear the Music is not it. It was written to recently to be the song I heard. If anyone has any other ideas, would appreciate hearing them. Thanks.
