In search of an audition piece

To whom this may concern,

My friend is a mezzo-soprano with a range between a low d and a high e. She's having trouble finding a piece for her college audition, so I thought that I might help by asking if anyone knew of a song that could showcase a range such as hers. I'm not sure what type of piece it is, whether it needs to be an art song or not. But if there's any song (preferably in the choral public domain, sheet music isn't cheap) available that could demonstrate her voice that would be very much appreciated.
