Post by vaarky »

I attended this conference last year and found it quite worthwhile.

Chalice Consort Early Music Conference

Newly discovered, never-been-published works that complement Tomas Luis da Victoria's Tenebrae Responsories .

Chalice Consort is pleased to announce the second annual Chalice Consort Early Music Conference (CCEMC) , which brings together performers, scholars, and listeners of early music to examine newly-discovered and edited sacred music from the Renaissance and Baroque eras, and select two pieces from those heard at the conference will be performed at a future concert by the Chalice Consort.

The EMSC, as part of the CCEMC, is calling for newly discovered and transcribed (i.e. never published or publicly performed) musical works from anywhere in the world that complement the focal piece of the annual conference, which will be reviewed by early music directors, Chalice Consort, and attendees at the CCEMC. For the 2011 conference, the focal piece will be Tomàs Luis da Victoria’s Tenebrae Responsories . Chalice Consort will screen all the music scores submitted by February 7, 2011, and select the top five pieces to present at the CCEMC in April 2011. At the CCEMC, Chalice Consort will sing the five selected pieces under the direction of highly respected early music directors. The performers and attendees of the conference will discuss the works and vote for their favorite piece, which will then be performed by Chalice Consort. The 2011 premieres will be part of an upcoming Chalice Consort concert. You can read more about the EMSC here and the CCEMC here.
