Phipps Festival Chorus concert

Post by CHGiffen »

The Phipps Festival Chorus will present a concert in celebration of the Christmas season on Saturday, Dec. 5 at 8:00pm, and again on Sunday, Dec. 6 at 2:00pm. Both concerts will be held at the Phipps Center for the Arts in Hudson, Wisconsin. Enjoy “the most wonderful time of the year” with seasonal selections to stir the soul and warm the heart performed by this popular 45-voice choir - a treat for Twin Cities (Minnesota) and Western Wisconsin area residents, since several of the works on the program are by area composers/arrangers.

This year's program will include:
  • Before the Marvel of this Night, by Carl Schalk
  • Bethlehem Down, by Peter Warlock
  • Coventry Carol, arranged by Dale Warland
  • In the Bleak Midwinter, arranged by Abbie Betinis
  • Light Everlasting, by Olaf C. Christiansen
  • Lullaby on Christmas Eve, by Jerry Rubino
  • O Lord God, by Paul Tschesnokoff
  • Out of the Orient Crystal Skies, by Richard Zgodava
  • The Shepherd's Farewell to the Holy Family, by Hector Berlioz
  • Wonderful Peace, by Gustaf Nordquist
as well as several holiday arrangements:
  • Behold the Star, by William L. Dawson
  • Jingle Bells, arranged by Gordon Langford for the King's singers
  • Let it Snow! arranged by Ed Lojeski
  • On Christmas Night (Sussex Carol), arranged by Philip Ledger
  • Silver Bells, arranged by Ed Lojeski
  • Wassail! arranged by Jerry Rubino
