Hi,
I've just had a piece performed which had 8 strings and 8 wind in the accompaniment. I did individual parts for them, and would like to post these with the main score. Is there a way to do this? I couldn't find anything in Help.
Thanks,
Mark.
How can I post orchestra part scores with main score?
Re: How can I post orchestra part scores with main score?
Hi Mark, thank you for your interest in sharing these individual parts you've prepared. This is indeed a somewhat uncommon situation, that's probably why you couldn't find anything about it in the Help pages.
In my opinion, the best way to incorporate the individual parts to the works page is by compressing them all into a single file (.zip, .rar, .7z etc.) before uploading it to CPDL. A link could then be added to your file alongside the main score, and any additional information regarding the parts can be added to the "Edition notes" section.
Regards,

A ZIP file is a bit cumbersome to handle, because you must first download and unpack it to decide whether it can be useful.
I would instead suggest to concatenate the PDFs of the individual parts into a single PDF, which can e.g. be done with pdftk (a cross platform freeware PDF-Toolkit) with

Thanks, Chris. I installed pdftk and have now posted my piece http://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/Domi ... Chapman%29 with additional part score PDF.

Re: How can I post orchestra part scores with main score?
This lumping seems undesirable from my own point of view; often I send players a link and they download their own part to practice from IMSLP. It seems less convenient for them to have to download the whole set and then choose the correct page numbers to print.
To answer Mark's question (aside from policy, if that's indeed settled), it's possible to just add links to the individual parts without submitting the form for additional CPDLid#'s as I did at http://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/The_ ... eph_Haydn).

Richard, the example you gave is fine by me; adding up to 4-5 links to individual parts is an acceptable compromise. But in the case of Mike Chapman's work, apart from the vocal score, midi and source files, there would have to be 16 more links to the individual parts; that would be a bit too much.

Well, 16 parts in one file is a bit much too Btw, today we posted a couple of editions with score and parts lumped: http://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/Laud ... C3%BCller)
Very heavy on the paper tray if one clicks print before scrolling all the way through!
It's also possible to have the worst of both worlds, a cluttered page and a bulky single file:
