Uploading scores

Post by luis »

Good morning.
Last nov 18th I uploaded three new scores:
  • Panis Angelicus
    Victimae Paschalis Laudes
El Niño entre los Bueyes (for Christmas)
I believe I did it following the procedures established in the guides:

First, as the composer is not listed in CPDL, I created his page using the "add a composer" form and instructions. In fact the page is working thus: http://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/Oscar_Santos, besides I could edit it and udpdate it yesterday.

Second, I uploaded the scores (three pdfs and their midis) named accordingly the standards (for ex.: "Santos-pan.pdf"). Again the images and their midis can be accesed directly (for ex.: http://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/Santos_pan.pdf)

But nor the composer neither the scores are available through the main page of CPDL, and they don't appear in the "recent changes" window.

So, this is my question:
¿Did I something wrong when filling the forms, or did I omitted some step I didn't notice?

If there is some kind of approval before publishing the new data, may be the delay is because of that. If so, I understand and please accept my apologies for my question.

Thank you, very much and happy "Day of the Music", today nov 22nd, Sancta Cecilia, Music Patroness.

Hi Luis

I can confirm that those files have been uploaded and the composer page has been created. What happens when you click "Add works data" at the bottom of the form is that the wiki code that is created is emailed to the Manager of the site, Rafael Ornes. Unfortunately, Raf is very busy and there is a substantial backlog of scores to post which yours has now joined. You can wait for the scores to be posted or submit the form again and save the code which is generated when you click "Add works data". If you have this code already, please post it below and I will sort the pages. Otherwise, re-submit the page and, if you feel competant to do so, then follow the instructions from this page of the score submission guide.

Regards,

Rob

Help with your submission...

Hi Luis,

Glad Bob is already asisting you with this. One note to help
you understand. The code generated by running the "Add work" script
generates code like the following:

*{{NewWork|2007-11-22}} '''CPDL #15500:''' .....

It is the presence of the NewWork template that makes the score
appear on the main CPDL page. If you added the work manually you
will need to cut and paste this bit into the works page.

The full text is shown below for a Hymn I recently added:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you use the following link you can edit the page and see the complete
"Works page" for this hymn that I added.

Thank you both of you, I appreciate your help and kindness.

Let me say that as far as I'm going retired from my business job, I'll have the time to help to this wonderful website. I wrote (perhaps doing something wrong againg :? ) for adopting Juan del Encina. I have studying him for some time and have some important documentation.

If you have any suggestion about the adoption you can be sure it will be so welcome.

My best regards, and thank you again.

Your adopting of Juan del Encina sounds great. I adopted Parry and
Henry Purcell. There are only a handful of people who have adopted
a composer.

If I can be of assistance, feel free to leave me a "PM" note here or on my
user page.

Help with your postings...

Hi Luis,

If you would like to upload the files you wish to contribute again I'll help
get them posted properly. I need the file pointer to each of the
files ( PDF, MIDI, and Source file ( ie. Sibelius 4 or Finale 3, etc).

To demonstrate what I need you to send me, click on the following link:

http://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/Imag ... _call2.pdf

This screen is what you see right after you upload a file. RIGHT - click
on the text VaughanWilliams-The_call2.pdf and select properties.

I need the text on the line labeled "address URL", in this example:

http://www.cpdl.org/wiki/images/4/49/Va ... _call2.pdf

This is the file pointer for a PDF file I uploaded yesterday. It is used
in Vaughan William's works page for the Hymn tune "The call". The
two pages where I used this link are shown below as an example:

Ralph Vaughan Williams "Composer" page:
http://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/Ralp ... n_Williams

"Works page for the hymn tune "The call".
http://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/The_ ... illiams%29

- Hope this helps your understanding...

file pointers

Post by luis »

Hi, John:

Your explanation was exactly what I was looking for, in order to help without giving you (and to admins) more work (what kind of help could be that what adds charge instead of relief?)

My problem, after uploading the files, was setting the proper links because I'd noticed some kind of subdirectories (???/8/89/???, for example) and I didn't know where to find that path. Now, I know how, and I must, as a good friend, thank you again.

I'll upload a new version of "Ay, triste, que vengo" (Juan del Encina) which is in binary timing (instead its commonly known 3/2); version that could be found in the "Cancionero Musical de Segovia". The usual version is that what remains in the "Cancionero Musical de Palacio". So, this is the opportunity to check if I learned the procedures quite well.

I'm so glad for contributing with this wonderful work to promote the universal culture of music.

Sincerely
Luis
