Recommended way to provide background information to a piece?

Post by Cdalitz »

Dear CPDL pundits,

as I think that one of my pieces is incemprehensible without some background information, I have created a PDF summarizing this information, have uploaded the file to CPDL and linked it on the page of the respective piece. Here is the file in question:

https://www.cpdl.org/wiki/images/4/47/P ... ground.pdf

As this is not a music file, I wonder, however, whether such background information might be considered off-topic and inappropriate for being hosted on CPDL. As an alternative, I could host the file on a third party site and merely link to it on CPDL. This would have the drawback, though, that the link might be orphaned some day in the future.

What is the correct way to achieve this? Or should background information generally be omitted, because non-experts who do not understand a piece are unlikely to be interested in it?
