Re: Greetings from new member...

Welcome to CPDL. If you try the "advanced serch" function, you can find more than 1000 scores classified as "madrigal". I'm not familiar with madrigals, so I have no info about "We be Soldiers Three". Unfortunately the main contributor of madrigals to CPDL, Brian Russel...

Re: Upgrade to the CPDL ChoralWiki

A large step was made on the wiki SW: from version 1.6.7 directly to 1.13.1. Quite often, new SW versions are more powerful, but they also ask for more server resources. This case was not an exception: after the upgrading, the server was very slow. Actions are in progress to optimize the wiki config...

Re: French copyright law - illegal to release works to the PD?

My French contact confirms that the French copyright laws do not contain anything substantially different from the similar laws of most countries. As a general remark, he said that a specific aspect of the French regulations is that they try to better protect the rights of the individual (typically,...

Re: French copyright law - illegal to release works to the PD?

I've contacted via e-mail a French person deeply involved in choral music and intellectual property rights since many years. We met in another forum related to some specific software products for music. I've sent to him the link to this topic, and asked his opinion. I hope he will reply via private ...

Re: CPDL down again

The automatic monitoring service detected that the CPDL website was responding around 20:30 GMT, i.e., approximately one hour ago, and then going down again. I hope this is a sign of works in progress at Stanford.

Re: Edvard Grieg or Edvard Hagerup Grieg

Hi Roar, Thank you for your remark. I think you're right, as the title of the corresponding article at Wikipedia is Edvard Grieg, and I think we should be consistent with it. I've added a note to the Grieg's discussion page. If the "main editors" of CPDL agree, the page will be moved. Rega...

Re: Hi - guidance welcome

Hi Paul, Welcome to the CPDL Bulletin Board. We've recently re-activated this board after a period of unavailability due to technical problems, so users are not as active as they were before the problems, anyway things are moving again. CPDL is searchable through several search critetia, including v...

Re: Brian Russell's site needs updating

Hi Carlos,

I don't know who may have access to Brian's website. However, if you google with the Brian's wife name, her e-mail address is easily found. You may perhaps contact her. I'm pretty sure she would be happy if we take care of Brian's generous contribution to CPDL.

Re: Adeste Fideles - Latin - SATB - Rush plse

Hi Diane, Unfortunately I have no music education, so probably I'm not the right person for answering such a question. Anyway, in most choral music the "extreme" parts (soprano and bass) are usually the most important: soprano has the melody line, while the bass has the bass line, which is...

Re: Adeste Fideles - Latin - SATB - Rush plse

Yes, of course. Please download the following file:

http://choralia.altervista.org/adeste.zip

It's a compressed file containing 4 MIDI files (soprano, alto, tenor, bass).

Re: Adeste Fideles - Latin - SATB - Rush plse

Hi Diane, Unfortunately I don't use Encore, so I cannot output the file in .enc format. I can output it in MIDI format, and you should be able to import from MIDI to Encore then, as Encore accepts MIDI as input format. Please download the MIDI file from http://choralia.altervista.org/adeste.mid. Ple...

Re: Adeste Fideles - Latin - SATB - Rush plse

Hi Diane, I've quickly re-digitized the score. If you like, I can provide to you directly one mp3 file for each part (SATB), played with syntesized voice, so that you can bypass Encore to avoid troubles. You can download or listen to a mp3 sample through the following URL: http://choralia.altervista...
