Re: Silcher's page

As the entire website is not designed for mobile access, mobile skins try to adapt the layout somehow, however you have to expect quite a few rendering glitches on some pages. I've just installed another skin, named Foreground, and activated it as a default for mobile access. It was another candidat...

Re: Silcher's page

is there any way to work with the Timeless skin when I'm not logged in? Yes, it is possible to attempt detecting whether a mobile browser is being used, based on the user agent string passed by the browser to the server. Then, the default skin may be set accordingly. This approach is not 100% relia...

Re: Silcher's page

Now it says: The selected attachment does not exist anymore Fixed. There was a bug on the server configuration after these forums were migrated to a new server on September 8, 2021. Attachments shouldn't disappear any more from now on. Yes: "ChoralWiki is not designed for accessing from phones...

Re: Silcher's page

On my Samsung smartphone the Timeless skin plus the rotation of the screen (sorry, I forgot to mention this - rather obvious - way of adapting the smartphone to a web interface intended for computer screens) works quite well:

Re: Silcher's page

ChoralWiki is not designed for accessing from phones. The rendering for phones improves if you select the "Timeless" skin from your "Preferences" tab, however it's still a compromise as the website is not designed for small screens.

Re: Damaged pages, the second

Should the source code in the future be allowed to consist only of templates and parser thingies? Yes, this is what is being gradually implemented, so that: all pages have a consistent structure; fields contents are clearly delimited so that they can be more reliably captured by the "spider&qu...

This source provides the (supposedly) original text by Alfonso d’Avalos, however I really don't know whether it's accurate or not.

Re: Damaged pages, the second

On a collaborative website all users are supposed to collaborate to maintenance and improvements. If you like, Nikolaus, I can implement improvements according to your specifications. Please let me know if you wish to receive a quotation. Otherwise, you have to accept what other users do for free, a...

Re: Syntax of (category) searches

Or can we ourselves define categories, like "Latin William Byrd SAB songs"? If so, where's the manual? ChoralWiki is based on the MediaWiki software, i.e., the same software used by Wikipedia, IMSLP, and many other collaborative websites. The concept behind categories is explained here: h...

Re: CologneBlue appearance breaks site

Apparently (see here ) the Cologne Blue skin has been removed from the most recent bundles of the MediaWiki software. As a consequence, updated versions of the MediaWiki software do not automatically update this skin to match the core software. It is necessary to update this skin manually, at least ...

Re: Create page instead of redirecting to composer page

Thank you for becoming a new CPDL contributor! Is there something I should do? You were probably not logged-in when you inspected the page of your first uploaded score. To save server resources, cached pages are displayed to users who are not logged-in, and cached pages may not reflect the latest up...

Re: Request for Copy of Archive

Almost all scores available on CPDL are copyrighted under various license policies, so this depends on the ultimate purpose: some purposes may be allowed only for a subset of the scores. Could you please specify what's the purpose?

In principle, on wiki websites authorisation to edit pages is not required, provided that the user has the necessary permissions associated to his/her user profile. So, I would take it as a "yes" instead.

Re: Cancel culture

Hi Mandy, thank you for your investigation. I was a little bit doubtful about trying this trick to fool those crazy autocompletion features, as I was afraid of some side effects. However, I was keeping an eye on the latest submissions, and I noticed some similar problems from contributors who never ...
