Re: Settings for youtube videos?
I use imovie to make videos that combine a midi sound file with the sheet music, to help conductors and singers get a better sense of the piece. Even though many choir conductors ask for this, I fear that providing an automatically generated midi sound does more harm than good. The singers thus lea...

Where to add source?
Even though it is unusual on CPDL to give the source of an edition ;-), I have incidentally stumbled over an online facsimile of a print from 1573 that is the source of some editions on CPDL. As I guess that this might be useful for others (finding sources can be time consuming), I have added it to ...

Re: Mensural notation oddity
There is nothing that matches your textual description in this reference in section "Ligatures": http://music.case.edu/~rwd/Notation/NotationManual.pdf It seems however that your puzzle could be solved by combining the information in this reference from "Ligatures" with that from...

Re: 20-30 minute piece for international choir workshop
When you have the opportunity of two choirs singing together, this might be ideal for actual works for double choir. Here are some suggestions from the CPDL editions: J.G. Rheinberger: Mass in Eb for double choir (Romantic work) H. Schütz: "Schwanengesang" (Early Baroque, might be too long...

Re: Unable to print
Most likely this is a problem with the plugin helper application used by your webbrowser. Check whether this occurs only on CPDL or on any other website hosting a PDF. As a workaround, you can rightclick on the link to the PDF file and download it to your hard drive. The you can open and print it wi...

Re: Extracting the Michael
Can you say more about which aspect of the note-for-note setting by the later editor is plagiarized from a creative contribution by the earlier editor I was not referring to the murky area of "creative editing" beyond error correction (whether ficta or guitar chord suggestions are copyrig...

Re: Extracting the Michael
The item under discussion comes from a collection of works indubitably by Hieronymus Praetorius: Polychoral motets vol. 1 ed. F.K. Gable (A.K.A. Recent researches in the music of the Renaissance, vol. 18), published by A-R Editions, Madison, Wisconsin, c.1974. I have inspected that volume, and can ...

Re: Advice on posting arrangements (first posting)
I would not post it on the Morales Magnificat page, but rather as "Nunc dimittis (Morales)" with descriptions on what you did, and then add a link to this arrangement from the respective Magnificat page.
This way, choirs seeking a "Nunc dimittis" will easier find it.

Re: "Languir me fais" missing on external site
http://www.dick.wursten.be/partituren.htm What about linking to this site instead of the home page? I too prefer linking to the external website rather than directly to the website (often these sites are interesting in themselves). The PDF file should however be somewhere available on the external ...

"Languir me fais" missing on external site
Hallo, CPDL #10517 points to the external site http://dick.wursten.be/ , but it seems that the piece "Languir me fais" is not there (my Dutch knowledge is limited, but I cannot find any hint on that external site that there are scores at all). Can this link be corrected to directly point t...

Re: Salamone Rossi
You do not mention the print your are looking for, but I guess it is "Madrigaletti a due voci" (Venezia 1628). A facsimile reprint of the complete book is available at a very low price from Bernd Christoph Becker, Cologne. I only have his postal address and phone number. If you would like ...

Re: A Copyright Issue
It might be helpful to encourage the editors to name their sources, so that end users can prove the public domain status against performance right societies or other third parties. Mentioning the sources can also prevent editors from relying on non PD material and save choirs relying on CPDL edition...

Hallo,
it seems that the list markup offered in the CPDL forums are ignored by the forum software. Here is an example:

Re: Lotti "Gloria in Excelsis" (C, 12/8)
Dear Christopher, maybe you already know this, but here is an instruction how you can help yourself in case of manuscript sources (there is also a catalog of printed sources, but that is difficult to access, becasue you have to travel to a library that has a copy of the RISM catalog): Go to the RISM...

And in case you have MacOS X, the built in print dialog has a "PDF" submenu, in which you can choose "Save as PDF". No additional software required.
