Re: Updates to submission process?

the main page should be simplified as a whole because it needs "forever" to load (probably the longer the bigger the CLDP gets). This not clear to me. Are you referring to the add work form, or to the main page of the CPDL website? The time to render the main page was never mentioned in t...

Re: Updates to submission process?

I uploaded pdf and mxl files with the "Upload now" buttons and initially entered nothing in the upload tab. This led to the known error: the score file name/URL "" appears not to be a valid score file name/URL. The error reported is consistent with a lack of communication betwee...

Re: Updates to submission process?

This confirms that, for some reasons, the upload form does not communicate with the add work form. It is possible that your specific browser settings interfere with the communication mechanism. Some time ago I struggled with Firefox under Linux due to some strange behavio(u)r, which did not occur at...

Re: Updates to submission process?

That's strange. The data of a certain file (e.g., file size and number of a pages in the case of a pdf file) are communicated by the upload form to the add work form through a XML file and AJAX. In the repository of XML files there is no one file associated to your username, so for some reasons the ...

Re: Updates to submission process?

The automated add score process was introduced in October 2013. It was announced using the main announcement banner, still available on archive.org (click to enlarge): archived_announcement.gif The above announcement was permanently shown for about one year, until October 2014. However, at that time...

Re: Search two words

Could you please try to do the same when you're logged-in (i.e., when you are operating on www.cpdl.org and not on the read-only mirrors www0.cpdl.org, www1.cpdl.org, www2.cpdl.org, www3.cpdl.org)? Do you obtain the same results?

Re: Why is Warlock's Bethlehem Down copyright in the USA?

Apparently it was first published in 1928, and copyright was supposedly renewed 28 years later, i.e., in 1956, for further 28 years. Then it automatically received an extension to 95 years from publication. So, it will enter public domain at the end of 2023. That work is public domain in Europe, so ...

Re: Best music scanning software for vocal music?

Do you still see a difference between the two products? Yes, they behave quite differently. For example, Photoscore is more accurate on the detection of accidentals that SharpEye sometimes is unable to capture, while SharpEye better manages slurs (especially on staves with multiple voices, which ar...

Re: Multiple-part upload

Apparently no copyright renewal occurred after 28 years from publication: I found nothing in the US Catalogue of Copyright Entries. It is probably public domain then. The copyright review process performed at IMSLP seems to agree on this. I'm one of the IMSLP copyright reviewers, however this score ...

Re: Best music scanning software for vocal music?

I almost daily use SharpEye and/or Photoscore Ultimate. Their accuracy largely depends on the quality of the score and of the scan, and I think it's the same for any optical music recognition software. Being obsessive for quality control, I use to compare the results of independent sources, as the p...

Re: Multiple-part upload

CPDL is based in the US, so we have to consider the US copyright status. Did you check what's the US copyright status before uploading?

Re: humor (contains potentially not-safe-for-work language): EU to introduce the Filternet

:D :D :D BTW, this subject is also being (a little bit more seriously) discussed on the IMSLP forums: http://www.imslpforums.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=9056 I think that the final part of the section reported, substantially forbidding the automated blocking of content, will probably kill the Filter...

Re: Posting Allegri Miserere

Currently, there is only one edition of this work at ChoralWiki that is available in NWC format: it's CPDL #16055 edited by Brian Russell. If you are referring to this edition, Brian Russell kindly released it under the CPDL license policy, which allows copying it (further to distribution, performan...

Re: Problem with icon for MuseScore files

it would be nice to have both: a field for uploading a music notation file (MuseScore) AND a field for the interchange file (.mxl) Technically, it is feasible. There are quite a few things to modify because, since the early days of CPDL, MusicXML was considered as a "source" format and tr...
