Re: error message with addworks

I was unable to reproduce the problem. It seems that the Mediawiki session was unexpectedly closed, and information about the work page to be added or edited was lost. The system was trying to check that the work page was existing already on a non-existing Mediawiki object. Mediawiki sessions are ke...

Re: "Unable to insert into table"

For some reasons you may have lost your logged-in status during the process. Keep an eye on the URL shown on the address bar of your browser and check that it always begins with "www" (contributor website, reserved logged-in users) and not with "www0", "www1", "www...

Re: Missing music

New submissions are immediately available on the main website ( www.cpdl.org ), reserved to logged-in users, and they are mirrored to the visitor websites ( www0.cpdl.org , www1.cpdl.org , www2.cpdl.org , www3.cpdl.org ), intended for anonymous users, few hours later (the mirroring process is run on...

Re: Search not working

Bad experience yesterday with the helpdesk of the hosting provider: the operator understood nothing about a problem with server time drifting, and performed silly database operations that resulted in a database table being corrupted. No comment. I've fixed today the problem with the time drift of th...

Re: Main server down

It's OK now. It must have been a network problem in that area or server farm, as the IMSLP forums server, that is also managed by me and that is hosted by a provider of the same group, was also down more or less in the same period of time.

Re: Other works not listed above with new works

However if I do not login I still get the works above and under the line. When I login everything seems to work properly and I get the works only once displayed on the page. CPDL's IT infrastructure architecture is quite specific. Our objective is to have low infrastructure costs because our budget...

Re: Other works not listed above with new works

The MediaWiki software that we use implements a rather complex caching system. Getting the latest version of a page, showing its final contents, may require to clear various caching levels. Suggestions are provided on this page: https://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/Template:CheckMissing In this case,...

Nikolaus Hold wrote: 04 Mar 2020 11:15 Do I have a virus on my PC or is it a problem with the CPDL server?
No virus, it was just a minor tweak to do on the server side. It should be OK now. Thank you for the heads-up.

Re: Error when logging out

Thank you for your notification. This should be fixed now. It was not a real bug: it was a specific situation related to the switching from the contributor website (when logged-in) to a visitor website (after logout), with the logout token issued by the contributor website not being known by the vis...

Re: AddWork Form

How many hours is "several"? Two hours didn't do the trick. We use the MediaWiki software (the same software used by Wikipedia), and it makes use of a rather complex, multi-layered cache policy. I think that 12 hours may be a good estimate of the typical cache duration. Your composer page...

No, please don't. We need to investigate this issue. As a very important extension has been recently updated, and {{CheckMissing}} makes an extensive use of that extension, it is likely something requiring a fix in {{CheckMissing}}.

Re: Errors and anomalies after update

Thank you for informing us about the problems. The login problem is a nasty one, occurring from time to time after MediaWiki version 1.27, where session information were moved to an object cache stored in the database. The mechanism is not very reliable, and it occasionally triggers, erroneously, th...

Re: Don't have permission to upload

Some time ago we were literally overwhelmed by spammers, so the registration process is a little bit garbled due to spam countermeasures. It is possible the something went wrong. Please login to the wiki, click on the "Preferences" label on the top-right side of the page, and check that yo...

Re: max_user_connections

I'm not sure whether this problem is caused by the tests that we are performing on the same server to upgrade the MediaWiki software to the newest versions, or by other causes (e.g. DOS attacks). As a matter of fact, the database server starts using an anomalous quantity of resources, with database ...

We also have a complete mirror of the Jennings website available on our servers: it was included in our routine backup of external websites.
