max_user_connections

I had this message a few times last week and have;t been able to log in today. I hope I can rejoice that CPDL is a victim of its own success, rather than there being some other problem!

Re: Multi-category searches for solo voice

I see, but since "solo vocal music" only contains daughter categories like "solo voice" and is never going to give any work pages in a multi-cat search, it seems needlessly confusing to have a checkable box for it.

Multi-category searches for solo voice

http://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/Special:RunQuery/Multi-Category_Search has a box that can be checked to search for "solo vocal music" but gives a "No results found" message unless one goes further down (up?) the tree to chose something like "solo voice" or "solo...

voicing categorization

Template:Voicing automatically puts pages into category N-part choral music (by toting up the letters in the voicing category other than using the '''Number of voices''' field). I noticed that Template:Cat|VVVV doesn't accomplish the same: to add Tallis and Striggio arrangements to Category:11-part ...

Approximate dates

I wonder how http://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/Category:People_grouped_by_birth_year could be differently organized: There are an awful lot of empty 14c categories, and I'm pretty sure if it were a bar graph we'd see a lot of bumps around years ending in 0 or 5. On the one hand I like to leave cate...

Re: Updates to submission process?

Thanks, the next wanderer might be reassured by that note. You make an excellent point about "contributors" as authors; I was thinking instead of the use of the word for "host" on pages like this one (and an incidental debate with Claude on whether B. Todt counted as an "edi...

Re: Updates to submission process?

I've (hopefully) activated that setting for you now I'll keep an eye out, but no notifications yet. As to the weird page where I left my query, could a brief explanation or a note telling people to ignore it be added? The field "Name of editor/contributor" is intended to identify the pers...

Re: Updates to submission process?

Since the forum bulletin boards don't show up on my CPDL watchlist I can be slow in acknowledging the thoughtful replies for which Max can be counted on! Still, 1. There are some very confusing redirects about which I asked here: http://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/Form_talk:Add_work 2. The form asks...

Updates to submission process?

I wonder if we could have a News link on the main page: I'm never quite sure whether I'm using the current AddWork form or not: http://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/Form_talk:Add_work 2 unheralded and welcome developments I've noticed just lately are 1) the add edition tab on workpages fills in some w...

Re: Stetit Jesus (Jacob Handl)

Hi,

I suppose I must have been interrupted before getting to Add Work! I see though that the pdf is an A4 cropped to letter size, and I'd better take time to find the original code...

Re: Incipit for Victoria's Laudate Pueri

Victoria's piece is not incomplete, but an intonation is an elegant way to give the starting pitch. At vespers Laudate pueri would be sung with the antiphon Sit nomen Domini (p. 259 in my edition of the Liber Usualis), which alternatively could be said softly while the organ played.

Re: .mxl Files

Yes, I too got what looked like an error message when uploading, which seemed odd since there exists a Template:XML for the icon. A bit of staring revealed an "ignore warning and upload anyway" button.

Search function and accent/umlaut marks

I've been asked a question about searching without special characters at http://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php?title=ChoralWiki:CPDL_support,_help,_and_feedback&action=submit#Add_Work_to_New_Page that I can't answer. Is it feasible to have "search" give Fauré as a result for "Faure&q...

Re: Proposed reform of Orlando di Lasso page(s)

My own wish list would include sorting by number of voices and by lyricist in case I have 5 dinner guests all partial to Pierre de Ronsard (this can be more or less accomplished by multi category search). But I'll comment in the future at http://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/Talk ... o_di_Lasso

Re: Files per edition

Max, could you point me to that discussion? I try to keep an eye on my CPDL watchlist as well as check in here from time to time, but there are several threads asking what we're trying to count with CPDL No.'s that have just petered out: http://forums.cpdl.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=5137 ht...
