I'm fairly sure Guido of Arezzo didn't view the ambiguity of the stave to be an imperfection ;-) As for the translation, it's caused by the subordinate clause being misplaced - surely the sentence should read "Hymn of Praise to the Mother" rather than "Hymn to the Mother of Praise&quo...

Indeed, Vox Patris was edited in the venerable EECM series - and I got to sing it for the first time, just on Monday night two days ago... what a hoot. But it's a bit long to fit with the Ashwell - twenty minutes, when the competition is for a maximum 8-minute-long work!
