The recording of your Magnificat is wonderful.
Thanks for the hint, which has pointed me to Matthew Curtis' offering.
Here you can hear him singing my "Ubi caritas":

Empty link to Buxtehude work
Dear all, on the Text Page to "Christe, du bist der lichte Tag" http://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/Christe,_der_du_bist_der_helle_Tag there is a dead link to a work "Befiehl dem Engel, daß er komm" by Buxtehude. I could not find a work on CPDL by Buxtehude with a similar title. D...

Re: Lyricist field for settings of bible texts
There seems to be some confusion about the term "version". What Carlos and Richard mean, these are actually chapters, and I do not think that "Lyricist" is the appropriate field for this information. Some pages use a (non standard?) filed "Text source", which might be a...

Re: Lyricist field for settings of bible texts
Thanks for all the interesting thoughts. I must admit however that my original point was much simpler: how shall I specify the Bible Version (i.e. the translation )? Every setting of a bible verse is based on a specific translation: Vulgata, King James, Luther, and so on (translations still under co...

Re: Lyricist field for settings of bible texts
How useful would that be for users? I'm not a conductor, so I have no idea if they search works starting from the biblical text. Yes, I think this is usually the way church choir directors search works: the first step is to look up the propers (biblical texts sung as part of the liturgy) of the day...

Lyricist field for settings of bible texts
Dear all, just posted a new setting of the passion after John http://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/Johannespassion_%28Christoph_Dalitz%29 and wonder what the correct entry for "Lyricist" is. It seems that, on CPDL, for biblical texts the lyricist information is usually left empty. IMO it wou...

Re: How can I post orchestra part scores with main score?
A ZIP file is a bit cumbersome to handle, because you must first download and unpack it to decide whether it can be useful. I would instead suggest to concatenate the PDFs of the individual parts into a single PDF, which can e.g. be done with pdftk (a cross platform freeware PDF-Toolkit) with pdftk ...

Re: Trad_Title_(Traditional) vs. Trad_Title_(Arranger)
The problem of different settings of the same tune does not only occur for folk tunes, but also for chorales. Just checked how this is solved in CPDL for "Vom Himmel hoch" (melody by Luther, arrangements by almost every major composer), and this seems to be the perfect solution: one centra...

Re: Giovanni Legrenzi, Lumi, potete piangere
It would be helpful to know from which opera or cantata this piece is. There is a recording by Rial & Jaroussky and L'Arpeggiata of the piece, so I guess it is a duet with basso continuo. Maybe the liner notes of this CD list the source. Once you have it, you can find locations of manuscript cop...

Re: Choice of Clefs and Keys
Contributors sometimes post editions of wonderful and interesting music using the wrong clef for the altos and in unperformable and/or unlikely keys. Hey, the wonderful thing about the sharing economy, of which CPDL is a part, is that you can make your own edition and post it again. What you find a...

Re: Looking for source of Vivaldi's "Vieni, vieni o mio dile
If I remember correctly, they offer a reproduction service that is quite tricky as one must actually obtain a quotation from a third-party supplier who provides the reproduction services for the library. I have just received a letter from the library, but it is all in Italian and I am not quite sur...

Re: Looking for source of Vivaldi's "Vieni, vieni o mio dile
it's from the opera "Ercole su'l Termodonte", RV 710 Many Thanks! Unfortunately, this does not make the search easier, because according to Wikipedia the score to this opera has been lost. RISM lists some manuscript copies of some tracks of the opera, but apparently this piece is not amon...

Looking for source of Vivaldi's "Vieni, vieni o mio diletto"
Dear collected wisdom, does anyone know from which source Vivaldi's little aria (?) "Vieni, vieni o mio diletto" stems? I was asked by a singer to accompany it on the theorbo, but she only showed me a copy of a modern edition (which one, she could not tell me) with a written out piano (sic...
