Hi,
Looking for Schütz's "Gib unsern Fürsten", I found the page
http://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/Gib_ ... h%C3%BCtz)
pointing to Fritz Brodersen's site, but I can't find the piece under the letter 'G'.

Re: Advice about a key signature ?
Hi, Thanks for your answer ! Indeed three b isn't an easy key signature for a recorder player (the upper part is quite tricky). OTH a B mode would be rather strange from an historical point of view, IMHO. Thus I've choosen to transpose a fourth up to A mode, with a Bb key signature. I remember havin...

Advice about a key signature ?
Hi, I have a score showing diminutions by Rogniono on a work by Palestrina (Domine, quando veneris). The mode is E. I'm transposing it a minor third up to fit recorder range. Because of the original half tone E-F, this means that nearly all A of the transposed version are bA. This would perhaps sugg...

Re: Conversions
Charles, you already said that, but it's never too much to emphasize that the above is your personal opinion as a composer and editor, and that you're not speaking as the President of CPDL or Manager of ChoraWiki, which might mislead people into thinking that CPDL's primary goals have changed. :win...

Re: High School general choir
Indeed this translation to English helps me to be sure of my understanding of the French text, which isn't quite modern, of course
Now that the meaning is clear, it should be possible for an English native speaker to change the translation to a more poetic/musical version.

Though not being a native English speaker, I had found this one some day :

Re: Beaming of notes
I like very much your points 1 and 2 !! The number 3 is a little more complicated ; text underlay, in early music, is often an editor's (or scribe's) choice. In some cases I have been modifying some parts of the text underlay ; alas, it would be much more confusing - nearly impossible - to change th...

Re: Tracking Favorites or Ratings
I'm too grateful for what is published on cpdl. However I think there is always a way to tell the truth without beeing insulting (of course !), but conversely I don't think that a remark about some point should be taken as an insult. Just an example : spacing between systems should be greater than s...

Re: Tracking Favorites or Ratings
While this idea might appear attractive, I'm not sure a single note would be enough - and I don't like your last remark. A score (or an editor) might be popular because it is beautiful, easy to read, etc. Or because it can be sung by mean amateur singers. Or because its lyrics are about a popular su...

Re: Choice of Clefs and Keys
I'm always surprised to hear that unusual clefs are a problem for some singers ; aren't the intervals the same, whatever the clef ?
The problem, of course, is different for instrument players who have to deal with fingerings.
