Re: Making contents of an opus searchable
I think I understand. Looking at some analogous works (Byrd's Gradualia) makes it a little clearer. I create 12 separate works/CPDL numbers, each of which contains the same Pub data (except for page and selection numbers) Then I create a Publication page that the pub data points to. While "Grad...

Making contents of an opus searchable
I've just finished a collection of 12 Latin motets for solo voice with organ. They are of various natures, but about half are Mass propers. It's "an opus", with numbered selections, and I'd like to keep the file complete. Yet I'd also like the contents to be searchable under the various ti...

Re: Multi-Category Search Feature Requests
Feature I would like to see (maybe it exists and I don't know how): A way to do a Boolean NOT for a specific contributor. Or, failing that, a way to select "all contributors" so that one could manually uncheck one or more. There is a particular prolific editor whose work is not suitable fo...

RSS feed for new works?
Is there any way to get an RSS feed of newly-added works? I can use the URL of the main page, but it gets me a feed of pretty much everything that happens here, which is a little messy.

Jesu dulcis memoria- duplicate work
The anonymous setting of Jesu dulcis memoria from "Archivo del Infante Francisco de Paula, copied c.1850" appears to be the same music as the contemporaneously-published setting attributed to Victoria. Perhaps we want both to file in the same place.

Absent from list of editors
I've noticed that I'm not listed under the list of editors. When I go to an edition I have made and click my name, it takes me to my composer page, which only shows my compositions, not works of others which I have edited. And I haven't found a way to search for editions which I have done. How do I ...

Re: best redirect approach for misattributed work?
I know it's a closed topic, but I'd like to make a counterargument: all main entries should be under where they will be searched for, for patron ease. I also note that the Library of Congress still attributes the work to Victoria. As a librarian, I would like to see a close correspondence between LC...

Proposal for renaming page: Missa Octavi toni (Orlando di La
I propose that the page "Missa Octavi toni (Orlando di Lasso)" be renamed "Missa Jäger (Orlando di Lasso)", for the following reasons: 1. The Library of Congress name authority for this work is: Lasso, Orlando di, |d 1532-1594. |t Missae variis concentibus ornatae. |p Missa Jäger...

Re: Choral Music in Latin Language
I did a reference stint on Yahoo Answers and got this number/letter notation question all the time. I didn't understand it then and don't understand it now. Apparently there's a subculture of musicians who don't read music. Western musical notion has evolved to most efficiently transmit the required...

Re: Palestrina and Performance Pitch
It's not Tallis Scholars you're thinking of, it's Pro Cantione Antiqua, Bruno Turner's group, that did it down a 4th. That was a common transposition for pieces in high clefs (treble top, tenor bottom). I did this for a wedding mass summer before last, and I had to grapple with this issue, which was...

Re: Application of musica ficta
I'd only add 3 ficta here, all F#: vI, m3, 3rd note ; vI, m28, 3rd note; vII, m. 33 4th note -- all cadential. It's a mixolydian piece, so Bb would be out of place, as "una nota super la" in the hard hexachord would be f natural anyway, and you'd only sharp it to be a cadential leading-ton...

Re: Renaissance Motet Texts
THE place to look for Latin motet texts is the Liber Usualis, which is now conveniently available for download at http://www.musicasacra.com/ . Why? You will have created a possible liturgical use for your motet, which will increase performance opportunities. As for Latin texts and the Book of Commo...
