Searching for scores

Post by MauriceIRL »

Hello:

How do I search for a subscore of a larger composition by a specific editor, e.g. 'Praise thou the Lord' from Mendelssohn's 'Lobgesang', edited by James Gibb, please?

You can use the Multi-Category Search, setting Praise thou the Lord as (part of) the title, and James Gibb as editor. In this case, the query will provide no results as there is only one edition of Praise thou the Lord from Mendelssohn's Lobgesang on CPDL, and it is edited by Michael Gibson, not by James Gibb.

Thank you, Max.
I have done further research into this particular piece, and discovered that, while James Gibb has done a version of Mendelssohn's Lobgesang, he has not included the solo only/recitative sections.
So I now understand why my search works as you have explained, and withdraw my silent mental criticisms of the multi-category search!
