I just found this board

Post by ebyrne »

Hi all, I'm new today.

I received Haydn TeDeum recently and found your web address on it. So I went and snooped around.
I found a Dutch song to which I copied down the words. I haven't looked at all the rules yet to see what I could do about that.

Does a translation have to be singable? Or just loosely translated?

Welcome, but unfortunately I don't understand what you mean. My English is so-so. Could you please explain in more detail?

Welcome to the CPDL forums!

You asked about translations at ChoralWiki. Some translations are poetic and have the same rhythmic structure of the original text, and these are therefore singable as alternatives to the text provided. But other translations are not singable, since they might be literal translations of the text.
