Desperate Chorus Teacher

Post by pennymary »

I am a teacher in a new position in charge of fourth and fifth grade chorus. I have, in past positions, prided myself on selecting diverse concert repertoire that challenges my students, and entertains parents and students alike. In my new school there is NO choral library. There are hundreds of choral pieces, but only ONE copy of each piece. Also my school is facing huge budget cuts and my $700 music budget has been revoked. I am now trying to put together a concert with no music and no money.
Are there pieces on this site, complete with piano parts, that I can use to build a diverse concert for my group? I usually tried to include the following in my programs;

American Folk Music and/or American Patriotic Song
Folk music from 2 other countries
pop/show tune
Classical/Baroque/Medieval Composition
High quality contemporary choral literature

Please let me know if you have any appropriate pieces/other resources/ideas/anything???

Hi! I suggest you start looking here:

ChoralWiki:Music_Subcategories

Go through the categories that interest you most; the Piano accompaniment category, for example, has 740 works listed!
Good luck!
