Choir Audition Pieces for Male Tenor

Postby Amege » 18 Apr 2019 07:23

Hi all,

I'm going to be auditioning for a youth choir in just over a month's time; and I need to prepare two contrasting pieces. From searching the internet all I can find is recommendations for musical theatre auditions and none of them feel at all appropriate (though I may be wrong).

Any help with suitable pieces would be much appreciated. For reference my voice is high tenor (I sometimes struggle to get the lower notes on tenor lines in our normal choir music, but don't find the high ones difficult).

Thanks in advance!

Assume this choir is will be performing religious works, the following are beautiful short pieces, but can be taxing for breath control and pronunciation. I'm sure there are plenty of other options like, Nessun dorma.

Panis Angelicus - César Franck
If With All Your Heart - Felix Mendelssohn's "Elijah".

Hope this helps.
