Searching for "Madame Jeanette"

Post by capecodterp »

An a capella SATB arrangement from the '60's, it tells the story of a woman who sits by her Paris window waiting for her WWI lover who has been buried at Pere-Lachaise. Many thanks for any help.

Maybe it is this arrangement? http://www.musicroom.fr/fr-FR/se/ID_No/ ... tails.html or here http://www.musicroom.com/se/ID_No/05870 ... ?kbid=1070

Showing this page http://www.worldcat.org/wcpa/ow/181888282, the song seems to be from the 17th century, so maybe it is not what you are looking for.

Listen to this - is it what you are searching for? http://biggreen65.tripod.com/sitebuilde ... anette.mp3 Maybe you could listen and write down what you hear?

If this does not help - where did you get information about the song? Is it in an audio file or a video/film?

Thank you, Friedhelm! The "biggreen65" IS the piece of music that I have had in my head for over 40 years now! My high school a capella SATB group recorded it back in the 60's, at a slower, more contemplative tempo. I have been searching for a copy of it for years, but our director died many years ago. I even visited that famous cemetery when I was in Paris. Any suggestions for tracking down a printed copy would be greatly appreciated.

According to http://biggreen65.tripod.com/id200.html, the song is indeed that of Alan Murray with lyrics by Edward Lockton which you can buy at the worldcat page or maybe you find out how to get a copy from one of the libraries mentioned on the website.

Danke! Danke, Friedhelm! I am a 59 year old pipe organist who knows just enough about computers and the web to get by. I really appreciate your help. Oh, how I hope to return to Munich someday...
