How to do your own posting

Post by johnhenryfowler »

Hi Stephen,

Thanks for contributing to CPDL.

There is a comprehensive score submission guide here:

http://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/Help ... sion_guide

In a nutshell:

1: Upload files (in left toolbar under "Toolbox")
2: Right-click on blue link with your file-name to discover
the "Address URL:" (It will look like:
http://www.cpdl.org/wiki/images/3/38/Jo ... Savior.nwc )
3: Copy this to a TEXT file for later pasting.
4: Upload next file ... repeat (Upload PDF file, MIDI file, Source file)
5: Run the "Add Works" form: http://www.cpdl.org/wiki/form/work.htm
6: Fill in info into the form. Be sure to include the 3 URL addresses you
copied to a text file in step 3 into locations labeled:

Sheet music location: <--(PDF file URL goes here)
Midi file: <-- (MIDI file URL goes here)
Music notation file file: <-- (Source file URL goes here)

7: Submit the form - copy the posting output to your text file.
Ignore the statement about "posted within 24 hours". This is
no longer true.
8: Try to add it yourself - based on "Score Submission Guide" or
paste the output you copied to the SUPPORT forum, and a CPDL
admin will do the posting for you.

Good Luck !

I wouldn't try to improve on what Mr. Fowler wrote, as far as contributing to CPDL, but it's not entirely clear to me what question you are really asking, and therefore, I'm not sure he answered your question. Are you asking about editing a post in this forum, editing a page in the WIKI, or (in a special case of the latter) creating a new page linking to newly uploaded scores?

Mr. Fowler's instructions are quite good as far as creating a new page and uploading scores, except for one small detail: you have to be a registered user of the WIKI, which is not the same as being a registered user of these forums. To register on the WIKI, find the link on nearly any page (but certainly on the first one) which reads "log in / create account", or some similar wording, and create an account on the WIKI.

If you are interested in adding content to WIKI pages, and are familiar with the WIKI format and editing generally, the same rules apply here, for the most part, though I suspect that Wikipedia is running on later upgrades of the WIKI software than is this WIKI. If you are not familiar with editing WIKI pages, then "Big WIKI" is a good place to go for reference, as the explanations of various WIKI features--templates, internal and external links, &c.--are better on Big WIKI than on this one.

Or are you interested in editing a post in this forum?
