Christmas Carol Performance

Post by Antonyx »

My choir sang my composition, a setting of the Nicholas Vachel Lindsay poem Star of my Heart, in one of its Christmas performances.

Here's a link to it. Hope you enjoy it.

The pronunciation may sound a bit strange - it is a French choir.

The composition is available on CPDL.

It's the Collegiale St. Michel in Castelnaudary, in the Languedoc.

The acoustic is very liquid, but the sound bounces off stone groins that support the ceiling ,and does strange things as a result. Most interesting from the conductor's point of view is the delayed echo that comes in from behind. This is a place that takes extra effort to hold together. Also the left wing of the choir could not hear the right wing... Our home church is smaller, but the acoustic there is just perfect.
