replacing my previous score(s) with new alterations

Post by gcallon »

I tried to upload two versions (PDF and Sibelius) of a score that is already posted on the CPDL. I followed the directions in the help innstructions. According to the instructions, when I uploaded the replacement files I should have received a message "A file with this name exists already...". I did not receive this message even though the old files, with the same name, are already there. So my new files have not replaced the previous files. Where have the new versions gone and how do I replace the old files?

Actually, you uploaded JOSQ-AVE.pdf, while the file name of your original submission is josq-ave.pdf (filenames are case-sensitive). Additionally, since your previous josq-ave.pdf was submitted well before CPDL was ported to the ChoralWiki - and hence was originally stored on the Williams server before being copied to the current CPDL servers - it is not in the usual File: "namespace" but in a different folder that is not actually subject to the "A file with this name exists already..." caveat (which explains why you didn't get the message).

Any replacement files for ones that existed BEFORE the migration to the present ChoralWiki are, in fact, new files ... and they may be linked to at the ChoralWiki by inserting with the "filepath:" directive, eg. [{{filepath:JOSQ-AVE.pdf}} {{pdf}}] for your new version.

Your old Sibelius file never was on any CPDL servers (including the pre-ChoralWiki Williams server), but instead is listed as being available externally at your acadia website. So the new JOSQ-AVE.SIB needs to be similarly linked, via [{{filepath:JOSQ-AVE.SIB}} Sibelius]

I'll fix these for you, but left this diagnosis and prescription here, just in case others might run into this problem.
