Re: Dido and Aeneas, Fowler edition
Dear Greg, Thank you for your kind words toward John Henry Fowler, and for your detailed report on his edition of “Dido and Aeneas”. The suggested changes will certainly be useful for other users as well! To this end, I have also posted your list to that work's discussion page . Our valued editor Jo...

Re: Maiden name vs. married name
Hi again,
I was halfway through the changes when I noticed that in your recently published "The journey" you changed your composer name but not the editor name, which is still Heather Graves. Would you prefer to continue using your maiden name as editor, or may I rename it too?

Re: replace a midi file?
Hello Jep, thanks for providing a corrected midi file for this work. The proper way to submit a new version of a file is by replacing (overwriting) the old file with the new one. That's what I have done here: http://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/File:Stanford_Magnificat_and_Nunc_dimittis_in_B_flat.mid...

Re: Maiden name vs. married name
Hi Heather!
It's relatively simple to update all of your works to use your new name. I'll proceed to the mass renaming tomorrow and inform you when it's complete.
Kind regards,

Hi D-fished, thank you for sharing your thoughts. I'm tending to agree with you that purely temporal categories are the best way to go.

Re: n+1 voicing
I was puzzled as well as startled by the template-added Category:14-part choral music at http://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php?title=Missa_Gustate_et_Videte_(Marco_Antonio_Ingegneri)&oldid=602865 I don't remember very well how this template works, but it probably didn't recognize the middle slash ...

Re: Adding instrumental parts for existing edition
Hi, David I'm not sure how to do this, while retaining the link with CPDL #38063. Should I use the ADD WORKS form? There is no need to use the AddWorks form again just to add new files to an edition already published. You just upload the files normally and add links to them from the works page. For ...

Re: Modern vs Contemporary
I'm guessing most people looking for Ren style pieces by non-Ren composers are just not that particular about whether it was written during the 18thC or 19thC. The few that care that deeply can probably tell from the composer names (Stanford, Howells), plus may also be able to get at this functiona...

Re: Modern vs Contemporary
Slightly off-topic, but somewhat related: does the chronological category refer to birth and date of the composer or to the style of the composition? For instance, I use for my own composition written in Renaissance style "Renaissance music", not "Contemporary", and would use &q...

Re: Modern vs Contemporary
Reviving this thread, almost one year later. Sorry for the delay! :) I prefer the definite chronological statement of "Early 20th Century", but do agree that the time period currently labelled "modern" could beneficially be divided. Maybe "Mid 20th Century" for the seco...

Re: Public Domain in Canada...?
Hello Lady Islay, CPDL follows the USA copyright law, because that's where our servers are located. Canada follows the death year + 50 rule for someone's works to enter the public domain, but the USA law is more restrictive, waiting for 70 years after the author's death (if I'm not mistaken). Howeve...
