Re: "All rights reserved" music hosted on CPDL
Concerning the pieces by Malcolm Dedman, I have learnt from him by private communication that his works are registered with "The Performing Right Society" (PRS) and that in all cases of performance royalties are due to PRS. So this seems to be a rather dark grey if not even black... While ...

Re: "All rights reserved" music hosted on CPDL
The scores that I mentioned are reside on the CPDL server . I have read on http://choralwiki.net/wiki/index.php/Help:What_copyright_rules_apply_to_CPDL_scores%3F that "The CPDL copyright license applies to all scores and texts which reside on the CPDL server." I had thus concluded that all...

"All rights reserved" music hosted on CPDL
Hello, just spotted some editions posted by the composers themselves on the CPDL server under a "Personal" license rather than the CPDL (or something equivalent) license. As this is against the hosting terms of CPDL, I wonder how to proceed with these editions? The editions in question are...

How to specify multiple voicings?
I have noticed that it is possible to specify multiple languages for one piece (e.g. when the piece is available in different translations) with the magic {{Language|2|German|English}} Is there something similar for specifying voicings (e.g. when a piece has alternative versions for SATB and TTB)? C...

Re: different Key!
Indeed it is not listed on the page above, but if you use the site's search tool you'll locate it at http://www.laymusic.org/music/sp/html/pieces/30.html. I have corrected the link on the editions site. In response to the original question, verochka might be interested that this edition actually is...

Re: different Key!
All these editions are indeed transposed into an extraterrestrial key (from a 16th century point of view). Strange. Maybe this is to please choirs who sing or practice with piano accompaniment (practizing with a piano might be horrible, but not uncommon...)? There is however one strange thing with t...

Re: Octave Tenor Clef
Using the violin clef (G2) with (or without) an 8 below for the tenor and alto part is a 20th century oddity. I do not know what the exact reason was for abandoning the appropriate tenor or alto clefs (C4 and C3), but I guess that it simply was a surrender to the musical illiteracy of the singers. W...

When does the "New" logo disappear?
Hello, does anyone now what the exact function of the "New" icon is? The "Add scores" form automatically attaches the template {{NewWork|YYYY-MM-DD}}. It seems to me that this icon remains attached to a score for a long time (forever?). Is the editor of a site responsible for rem...

Re: Why not CC?
Many thanks Philip for the detailed and thoughtful post! I fear the only way to ensure copyright compliance would be an moderation system, which requires new posts to be approved before making them available online. The problem is that copyright law is very unintuitive with respect to public domain ...

Re: How to delete old PDFs?
One example: a Google search for "messe in E-dur" + dalitz yields as third entry a to be deleted PDF. I have fond no hint on the CPDL main site who can be contacted as administrators. If you know some of them, could you please forward to them the plea to delete the files listed below? Than...

How to delete old PDFs?
A Google search shows up many old versions of PDFs on Choralwiki that have exclamation marks in their filenames.
Is there a way to delete these stalled versions from Choralwiki? Or is that at least someone who can be asked to do it?
Chris

Re: Main site gives database error
MySQL returned error "1205: Lock wait timeout exceeded; try restarting transaction (localhost)". Hm, I do not know the current status of transaction support in MySQL, but MySQL has a reputation for poor transaction handling (this may have changed recently with Sun having purchased MySQL, ...

Re: Greetings from new member...
The original three part version can be sung as is with SAB. Note that the terms "tenor", "treble" and "bassus" often did not specify voice ranges but rather voice functions (e.g. "tenor" typically denotes the voice carrying the "meaning", i.e. the me...
