Re: Make mine a blackcurrant leaf and licorice tisane
Back on topic: your post raises more than one point. Firstly, there is the legal question of possible copyright infringement. As far as I know, faithfully transcribing an edition from mensural notaton or tablature does not create a copyright on the resulting edition, at least in Germany. There are a...

Re: Make mine a blackcurrant leaf and licorice tisane
In order to draw attention to your issue, it might help to use a less cryptic thread title. As a non-native English speaker, I have no idea what the title is about and how it is related to the content of your post, but I am sure that there is a hidden meaning (maybe an allusion to a fariy tale possi...

Source/author and copyright fields for translations?
Whilst there are both author (composer) and copyright (per edition) tags for musical settings, it seems to me that the same is missing for translations. Apprently everyone tries to find an ad hoc workaround by eihter ommitting this information altogether (which makes the copyright status unclear and...

Inadvertently created second work page
While adding a new addition in a different language to an existing work page, the "Add new edition" form created a new work page instead of adding it to the existing page: https://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/St._John_Passion_(Christoph_Dalitz) I have already moved the edition to the correc...

Re: Request pages
My first random test (Telemann: "Ach wie flüchtig") showed that an edition is available on IMSLP (part books in C clefs, text in "currente" script). Certainly usable by musicians accustomed to early music, but not the average parish choir. BUT, what prevents the requester from cr...

Recommended way to provide background information to a piece?
Dear CPDL pundits, as I think that one of my pieces is incemprehensible without some background information, I have created a PDF summarizing this information, have uploaded the file to CPDL and linked it on the page of the respective piece. Here is the file in question: https://www.cpdl.org/wiki/im...

Re: How to post chorale (i.e.: hymn) settings in different languages?
please, divide the 'Music files" parts into "In Esperanto language:" part So the different titles should be given in the "Edition notes"? There is also the field "Title" under "General information" which is independent of the page title and can be set mo...

How to post chorale (i.e.: hymn) settings in different languages?
Dear all, often, I prepare editions of my chorale settings with translations in different languages. I am not sure how to post these editions: All editions on the same page with only the title of the original language (mostly German). Example: http://www.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/Nun_lobet_Gott_im_hoh...

Multiple voicings with different number of voices
What is the correct way to indicate different voicings of a piece? There is the Voicings tag, but that requires a fixed number of voices. What if there are different editions that are arrangements for different numbers of voices? As a workaround, I have used two Voicings tags, but I wonder whether t...

Error when logging out
Whenever I log out from CPDL, I get an error "Log out failed due to session error. Please try again." When I click on the link under "try again", the logout is completed. Albeit it is only a nuisance and not critical, there seems to be a bug in the logout procedure that should be...

Re: Songs of freedom and struggle
A modern grand master who still writes and sings such songs is David Rovics. On davidrovics.com you can find texts and recordings of many of his songs in the section "songbook". If you are interested in historic songs, try to locate the special archives in your country and make dates for v...

Re: How to list works by composer with voiceing/instruments?
Ah, this query is only possible for editors. It actually yields the list that I was looking for.
Now I only must remmeber to press "Cancel" after querying this list and not to press "Save" inadvertantly
A bit cumbersome, but it works.
Thanks for your help, Chris

Re: How to list works by composer with voiceing/instruments?
I cannot exactly figure out what your answer refers to. Are these hacks on the Wiki code that enable an automatic listing on the ChooralWiki page, i.e. somethind that must be done by a CPDL editor? Or are these options accesible to CPDL vistors? In case 2, is there an example somewhere how this can ...

How to list works by composer with voiceing/instruments?
While it is possible to search for works of a composer with a voicing known beforehand, I wonder whether it is also possible to obtain a list of all works by a composer that includes their voicing (plus the instruments of the accompaniment). It is a bit tediuous to click on every work listed on the ...

Re: Music for organ and small choir?
As you intent to show off the organ, you are presumably looking for music with an obligatory organ part and not merely with basso continuo accompaniment. What about Johann Nepomuk Hummel's Mass in B flat Major, which is available on CPDL? You can find for more classical (ie. Vienna classics) music w...
