Might something like ABC notation be a possible intermediate step ?

Re: Italian to English translation

We (admins) had some internal discussion about such a score, as its text (that is dialect of the Venice area) has quite explicit contents. Oh... ok, you've made the good choice when publishing. There are so many explicit songs in the Renaissance, for instance, and evreyone is able to define one's o...

Re: "New answer"

I see!
It's not really a problem, since it doesn't happen so often, but I'm now very glad to understand the reason, thanks !

"New answer"

Hi, From time to time I get a message about a "new" answer, though the latter appears to be very old. I've just got one about "Other topics / Octave tenor clef", but the last contribution in this thread is dated december 12th 2008  BTW, this is more a question about this k...

Re: CPDL Copyright notice

I thought that some original work had to be done in order to claim a copyright. It might be very light (too light to my taste) in some cases (articulations), it might be useful (guitar fingerings), it might be rather creative (a good basso continuo), but I'm really surprised to learn that a strict c...

Re: CPDL Copyright notice

Hi there! In many older editions this is the disclaimer used. As CPDL license hasn't changed, I'm pretty sure the notice below is still valid and you have just to update the year: Copyright @ 2000 by the Choral Public Domain Library (http://www.cpdl.org) Edition may be freely distributed, duplicate...

Re: Josquin Desprez

Thanks pml, for this contribution - I certainly won't decide which experts are right! ;-)
I take it that people *do* know there is an acrostic in the motet Illibata Dei virgo nutrix
I didn't know that

Re: Josquin Desprez

His name hasn't been written always the same way, I think - thus the current "correct" spelling is somewhat arbitrary. BTW, I've been told once that In Te Domine speravi was by another Josquin, who was named Josquin d'Ascanio, different from Desprez or des Prez. To make things still more c...

En l'ocurrence il suffit de cliquer sur les liens dans le message précédent de Carlos. Vous arrivez sur une page avec une grande icône "Acrobat", et sous celle-ci se trouve un autre lien à cliquer pour avoir le fichier pdf. (sorry for this French answer, this member said he hardly understa...

Interesting experience, Mike, that's probably why I feel more confident when my teacher is present.

I can't really help ; however, here is an interesting study, with short quotations (all in French!) http://books.google.fr/books?id=FAcMwO-pgcAC&pg=PA201&lpg=PA201&dq=r%C3%A8gles+de+composition+charpentier&source=bl&ots=1HggTeSgXP&sig=ITfoV6A6NukNcSYWczOS9hqdb90&hl=fr&...

Re: stage fright

I also agree that 'sight singing' is obviously more difficult than 'sight reading' as an instrumentalist! Well... as an amateur, it seems to me, however, that some key signatures are more difficult for instrumentalists than for singers ?! (but I agree 100% that we are psychologically protected by t...

Re: stage fright

The number of performers is also relevant. Though I had played in ensemble 2 months ago without being frightened, I've experienced a different situation yesterday; I wasn't 100% cool while playing two movements of a sonate by Bellinzani ;-) But this is probably because I don't play "solo" ...
