Re: Can someone help identify this piece for me?

Although the text differs from yours after the opening words, the one that comes immediately to mind is Elgar's setting of Tennyson's There is sweet music (Op.53 no.1). Have a look at the full text at http://www.recmusic.org/lieder/get_text ... xtId=15694.

Re: Private messaging

Thanks, Max - one of the people who had a reply waiting from me has since replied, so I imagine they were just a bit slow in reading their messages. I received an e-mail notification - I can't tell whether it was from his message or your test one - but that's the first notification I've received for...

Private messaging

All, Is anyone experiencing any problems with sending private messages? I've got two stuck in my Outbox, one of which has been there quite some time. I understand from reading up on BB3 that messages stay in the Outbox until read by the recipient, but the original messages to which I was replying we...

Re: Rachmaninov - DEUS MEUS

I see it was composed in 1890, so will currently be in the public domain in the US under the pre-1923 rule, but not in the UK or EU until 2013 (70th anniversary of Rach's death). Perhaps a US contributor will be able to provide it, but strictly if you're in the EU you'd be breaching copyright by dow...

Re: Philip Moore sheet music

Eby, A page on the York Minster website (http://www.yorkminster.org/worship/music/minster-composers/) has a link to a complete list of Philip Moore's works. The First Service is on there, but appears not to have been published. I see that Mr Moore retired from his position of organist at the Minster...

Re: Anthems for Anglican confirmation

Liturgically, not much seems to be made of confirmation; the only opportunity for music in the Roman rite seems to be the antiphon, which is Confirma hoc Deus . There are several settings of a text with the same incipit on CPDL, but on closer inspection these turn out to be of the Offertory for Mass...

Re: Anthems for Anglican confirmation

Would English texts be preferred, or would Latin be OK too?

Re: A bit of a crash

Both for editions of Candidi facti sunt (Thomas Tallis). One of the submission forms would have been almost completely blank, as I only needed a CPDL number for a second edition that was going on the same page as the first - one at the unsingably low published pitch, one transposed up a 5th. PS Usin...

Re: A bit of a crash

Also, did any Admin get the e-mail with my two score submission forms to see what CPDL numbers were allocated? Or shall I just submit a couple of duplicates?

Re: A bit of a crash

Carlos,

Yes, every time something like this happens, I vow to move from a certain well-known internet browser to something a bit more stable. Time to do it for real at last, I think.

A bit of a crash

All,

Sorry - my PC went down in the middle of an edit, so all the work I did on a new works page for Tallis's Candidi facti sunt go lost. I'll sort it out tomorrow - too late now.

Re: Does anyone speak Swedish?

Chris, A search on "Swedish Bible" turns up lots of online resources - although perhaps your setting is a metrical version at several removes from the original psalm? It's not my place to volunteer him, but Iman de Zwarte (user IdZ), who is a Dutchman living in Norway, gave me a lot of hel...

Re: Roman passion chant

Max, Thank you for that instant response! That is very nearly what I'm looking for; this one includes Christ's words ("Verba Christi" at the top of the title page), but I was looking for the whole of the Verba Evangelistae , which has an entry in the Gaspari catalogue, but doesn't have any...

Roman passion chant

All, I've a strange feeling that I've asked this question before, but can't find the topic in the forums, so here goes: Does anyone know of an online source for a compilation of Roman passion chants called Cantus ecclesiasticus passionis , compiled by Giovanni Guidetti, and published in Rome in 1586...
