There was one (IMSLP) more recently, which has been taken down. Another, which still is extant, (but which may or may not have Werther) is the Werner Icking Music Archive, ( <http://icking-music-archive.org/>) now hosted by the Danish national Library.

Well, I really did not stint on the measure; it's an old U.S. joke, dating from a time when a particularly common measure by which most many spirits were sold was a fifth, short for a fifth of a gallon. There were a number of jokes on the same or related themes, but they have lost a bit of currency ...

Re: Celtic Blessing
Sorry. I can't forego the joke, overused though it is, about having some Gaelic spirit in me--several fifths, by measure, though not all at the same time. I've done some hiking in hilly and mountainous areas, and I have some experience in human anatomy, as a result of the confluence of the two, I ca...

Re: Hymn to Saint Martin
I would be grateful if someone can point me in the direction of the text of a Hymn to Saint Martin which begins O virum ineffabile Nec labore victum Qui nec mori timuit nec vivere recusa The Latin looks a bit odd, especially the 'O' followed by an accusative case. I would have expected 'O vir ineff...

There are certainly similarities, to the cause that UE brought against IMSLP, but there are also differences. Of perhaps the largest consequence is that in UE was concerned about instrumental works, where sales are in the tens or low hundreds, while Crucifixion is a choral work, and sales are in tho...

Re: viewing files in Finale Notepad
A number of music files are listed as "Smartviewer Music" files. This program no longer exists. I've discovered that Finale Notepad has replaced this program, but I still can't view any files that are supposed to open in that format. (I also have Finale 2007, but that doesn't seem to matt...

While we're about it, all the scores of Stainer's Crucifixion which do not use exclusively biblical texts are likely to infringe copyright because -- perhaps surprisingly -- his librettist W J Sparrow-Simpson only died in 1952. His estate will still get royalties from the sale of published scores. ...

Re: newbie question on how to edit post
hi Can someone point me in the direction of a helpfile on how to edit post? Thanks, Stephen K. Chan Stephen K. Chan
I wouldn't try to improve on what Mr. Fowler wrote, as far as contributing to CPDL, but it's not ent...

There are at least four libraries in the U.S. which report owning copies in OCLC, and there are several other organizations which may own copies, but which do not routinely report choral music holdings to OCLC. The work has two OCLC numbers, which you can give to a Librarian to try to borrow a copy ...
