Re: O Fortuna (Carmina Burana)

Hello Ian, I don't think you will find an orchestral backing track for Carmina. I got around the problem by sourcing the piano copy (from the library) and arranged the piece from that. Allthough I do not have an orchestra, I do have nevertheless a modern digital keyboard which I am able to record on...

Re: stage fright

Thank you for the above post Vaarky. I think you make some very valid points, not least of which is the fact that different people perceive the tonality of the written article in a different way. I strongly believe (as I would) in the value of my comments and would never insult the intelligence or a...

Re: stage fright

Goodness gracious 'PML' I don't know who you are or what you are, but I don't think I deserve a deluge of criticism from you! Yes, I am a professional musician (and proud to be so) but I will not bend to your accusations of 'brow beating' (musically) or the denegration of the 'amateur' performer! Yo...

Re: O Fortuna (Carmina Burana)

Hello Robert, Many thanks for your reply. I am also entranced by this superb music. I consider the chordal content, allthough difficult physically, is actually quite simple but the dischords are used to such a superb effect that one cannot help but be bewitched! I am intrigued by the fact that Orff ...

Re: stage fright

Hi Vaarky, You make some very interesting points about my posting and I have to say that I agree with an awfull lot of them! I have been, as you suspected, a professional 'Instrumentalist' and I take on board what you have to say about the difference between an instrument and the human voice. I agre...

Re: O Fortuna (Carmina Burana)

Hi Max, Many thanks for your post. I did have a look at the score and it did seem to be a single piano copy. You are right; the piano score looks a bit of a handful! The bass line can be played with the left, but then both hands are needed to play the chordal work on the top (not impossible but you ...

Re: O Fortuna (Carmina Burana)

Hi Bobnotts, Many thanks for your reply. Could I refer you to my posting to 'Choralia' ..... This will give you the gist of the situation as it stands at the moment. I have taken on board your comments with regards to the 'link' with SMP and should I purchase from them in the future (which is certai...

Re: O Fortuna (Carmina Burana)

Hi Choralia (Max), Many thanks for your posting and for your help in getting me logged in. I have contacted SMP and they assure me that they only have a 'double piano' copy. They gave me the number for Schotts but when I rang them I got a recorded message. I left them a request message and asked the...

Re: stage fright

Hi NLB (got it right this time . called you NDL last time .sorry) I am so very pleased that you have been able to address your 'stage fright' problem. I am sure the fact that you have overcome your problem will help in two ways: 1. It will, I am sure, 'still your beating heart' and 2. enable you to ...

Hello there NDL, many thanks for your welcome. I live in the City of Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire. with a population of about 250 thousand. Re: stage fright

I have been a professional performer for most of my life (40 years) and can honestly say that 'stage fright' has not bothered me one bit! ................ the reason? I have always ensured that I am 'totally confident' about my performance! And how do I reach this state of confidence? ..... Practice...

I'm just enquiring to see if anybody knows how to get hold of a copy of the above for SATB & single piano (there are double piano arrangements but we only have one)
I'm a new member here and look forward to corresponding with you.

Kind regards,

Grant
