Re: Is singing in a choir 'Educational'?

Thanks Bill. Glad you've had such a happy singing life. The replies to my original query have helped me to persuade our local community college to offer a 'Singing' course.

Thank you all.

K.

Re: Is singing in a choir 'Educational'?

Many thanks for your informative reply Max. Your story about your job interview is interesting.... choral singing experience certainly teaches us a lot about teamwork doesn't it? I suspect it's something most people might not consider including on their CVs.... maybe they should!

Is singing in a choir 'Educational'?

Our local Community College is considering offering a choir as one of its activities, but they wonder how a choir fits in with their ideas about 'learning' and 'studying', I.e. 'Education'. I would appreciate it if someone could suggest a few points that we could put to the college principal, who is...

Re: Plaudits from Melbourne: iPhones+CPDL·org to the rescue!

Great story Philip. I'd like to see it as an item in the Australian press. It could help encourage younger singers, especially, to join a choir. Umm.... maybe not mention the interminable Latin mass though.

Latvian music - Lieldienu Sekvence

There is a piece listed under 'Most recent scores' as 'Lieldienu Sekvence' which I would like to hear sung but I cannot find a rendition anywhere on the net. Not reading Latvian doesn't help of course, and it doesn't appear on YouTube as far as I can see. Does anyone know where I could hear a record...

Re: R.I.P. Joan Sutherland (1926 - 2010)

Oh No, this news upset me, but Joan Sutherland's life was a long and fruitful one and she will be missed both as a stupendous voice and as, by all reports, an unpretentious diva.

Re: Jewish songs

Amazingly so vaarky; the foregoing conversation and its satisfying outcome for our little singing group has really brought that home to me.
Thankyou CPDL!

Re: Jewish songs

Good news: Kristen Brown has sent me the sheet music with helpful information about how her group played around with the simple melody so effectively. It will be fun to sing. To all who helped: Thank you (from the other side of the Pacific Ocean). If I knew how to put one of those silly 'smilies' he...

Re: Jewish songs

Thanks vaarky,

I've been thinking that if the trail peters out at the SFSOTA, I could get the one-sheeter you mentioned in an above link (haven't looked at it yet) and work out how we could sing it as a round - shouldn't be too difficult should it (rhetorical question)?

Thanks again.

Re: Jewish songs

After further searching for this music with no luck at all I decided to email Todd Wedge using the form on the website for the SF School of the Arts, only to have my email sent back to me (To: Me, From: Me). Very odd.

I'm not sure what I can do next to contact Mr. Wedge.... Any ideas?

Thanks.
