Re: Problem adding scores

Hi Jochr

Your user page was created on 19th of February by Claude, so it cannot have been the same issue.
Unfortunately, that is pretty much all I can verify right now. You might have more success if you try to contact him (Claude T or Claude Tallet).

Cordially

Re: Problem adding scores

Hi Gervais

It's probably down to your user account not having been formatted yet. I'll look into it. What is the user name you set?

Regards

Re: Upload Limit

Hi Nikolaus I respectfully disagree. One of ChoralWiki's most prolific contributors, André Vierendeels, always has his scores published in batches (through me). His contributions are mostly original transcripts from original prints or manuscripts, give or take the odd work by his own hand. Limiting ...

Re: Need Help Picking Rep!

Gastoldi's Balletti , some of which are available at CPDL, are great fun and not very difficult. Their subtitle reads " per sonare, cantare e ballare " (to play, sing and dance), so that opens a lot op doors performance-wise. You could supplement missing voices with (an) instrument(s). Goo...

Re: Incipit for Victoria's Laudate Pueri

Hi The Halleel psalms (112 through 117, or other numberings) are psalms of praise, so there is something to be said for "Alleluia" to be more of a title than an actual part of the text. Omitting it would make sense in this reading. Should you want to include it, any antiphonary is bound to...

Re: Proposal to rename Bach's cantatas

I think it would be in everybody's interest to have uniform titles between cpdl, imslp and other sources. Not much to be gained from playing the odd one out.

Re: How long does it take to post a new score?

Hi John First of all many thanks for your contribution to CPDL. The score submission procedure is largely automated, but the page creation itself is still a manual enterprise. It is taken up by volunteers and hence may take (quite) a while, depending on when people are available to tackle new pages....

Re: Musical genre and liturgical function

Hi Chuck and others When I was in college, the most feared and hated course was 'Introduction to the Principles of Automated Semantics' - basically a course where you learnt the definition of 'definition'. I flunked it, and have hated semantics ever since, which probably explains why I'm having a ha...

Re: Musical genre and liturgical function

A couple of thoughts on these liturgical categories: * the category 'liturgical music' seems obsolete to me. I'd be hard-pressed, as I think would others, to explain the difference between the genre 'sacred' and the cat 'liturgical'. By way of an analogy: if you tell someone that a particular object...

Re: New structure of Choralwiki websites - November 29, 2009

Hi Max First of all, thanks for / congrats on your work at CPDL. The new dual-site system indeed seems to have alleviated the pressure on the website. Still, I can't help but notice the huge amount of people still logging in to the contributor's site without actually contributing scores. Unless I've...

Re: CPDL Copyright notice

I am, thank God, not a lawyer either, but I suspect the initial question was much simpler than what has been adressed since. As "public domain" scores are more or less the opposite of commercial scores, copyright claims mentioned on them (such as the cpdl license or CreativeCommons) are IM...

Re: Vierendeels ed. of Martini, In monte oliveti

I published the score on behalf of André, so I've corrected the typos indicated (as well as an accidental in the verse that Finale had completely misplaced :)). I've taken the liberty of removing the ScoreError notice, since it would seem all mistakes have been dealt with. Thanks for noticing.

Re: Liturgical music category

The main problem seems to be the word 'liturgy'. First of all, its meaning is ambiguous from an ecclesiastical point of view: in the East, 'Liturgy' (with a capital L) refers to our equivalent of the eucharist, whereas for us in the West, it is a general concept referring to all sorts of 'public wor...

This is the remainder of Help paragraph 2: 'How do I find and download scores', starting with 'How do I browse titles of scores?' <b>Hoe zoek ik in titels van partituren?</b> <br> Om een partituur op te zoeken, klikt u gewoon op 'Music scores' in het navigatievak dat u links op iedere pagina vindt. ...
