Re: Imperfect pitch

It would be more precise, indeed.

Re: Imperfect pitch

IMHO it is much simpler than that, the editor just says he has changed the music to a key different from the one on the source document.

Re: Mensural notation oddity

Thanks for the picture ! I've asked the question on Facebook, where I can have contact with some professional musicologists, and there seems to be an agreement about divisi . In such a case the coloraion of the upper note would be a convention with no metric meaning. I was told such signs are found ...

Re: Mensural notation oddity

It might be a souvenir of an older (black) notation, in which such stacks did exist ; if that is true, the lower note is played first, and then the upper one, the value of which is somewhat changed by the coloration. A better guess might be possible by knowing the mensurartion (C or O etc), and yes ...

Re: Salamone Rossi

Thank you very much CDalitz, one of the answers I got on Facebook points to these madrigals.
BTW I've just learnt that they found one piece on Youtube, and were able to write it down and thus have worked it today.

Salamone Rossi

Hi, some persons I know would have a urgent need of Salamone Rossi's pieces for 2 soprani and basso continuo ! Among titles that would be welcome : "Ghiaccio e foco nell'amada" "Ho si nell'alma impresso" "Non è quest'il ben mio" "Vo' fuggir lontan da te" They ...

Re: Many thanks to David Allinson

I've just been looking at this score, and suddendly I thought I had already heard something quite close to this, and I remembered "Qui ne regrettoit le gentil Févin" by Mouton. I took my Antico facsimile (Minkoff), and saw that this double canon was indeed exactly the same (excepted that i...

Re: A Copyright Issue

I scanned through Youtube's pages. Although I wasn't absolutely certain, it looked like I would have to challenge the copyright claim to find out who was making it. And this isn't fair IMHO ! Why does YT first give the point to the claim, rather than to the publisher ?? I personnally have a YT and ...

Gi(e?)b unsern Fürsten by Schütz

Hi, Looking for the above mentioned incipit, I've found a score (thanks to Cdalitz) and videos (specially one by the Calmus ensemble that I like so much). However, I've got to work a score with the same title, by Schütz too, which is quite different (see below) ! If you can make me understand this, ...

Re: Piece absent from external site

Thanks again for the link http://imslp.org/wiki/Geistliche_Chor-M ... einrich%29
But then I'll have a musical (or musicological) question, for which I open a new thread in a more relevant place.

Re: Piece absent from external site

Thank you very much Cdaliz, my comment was of course meant to be a "kind" one, the only goal of which was to maintain the good standard and reputation of cpdl !
